The chunk size I'm testing on is 16 as well so it can really push both clients to their limits but not destroy them.Īs for system used to test it's general specs are: All graphics settings will be default(reset to default on optifine) and will be tested with the same world and shader packs with the default resource pack. I'll also toss in lunar to see how the popular client holds up as well as it too supports 1.16.5. In testing I am going to be testing on version 1.16.5 as both iris and optifine support that version. When comparing optifine shaders vs Iris shaders the performance gain is massive more than twice the performance. Iris builds off of sodium and adds shader support directly to the mod allowing Sodium to technically now have shader support. However optifine still had the advantage with shader support but here's where the new mod comes into play. Sodium is an fps boosting mod for 1.16 and above and the way they approach mc optimization is by making the opengl rending more modern which then causes faster loading times and more fps. I posted something about this on another comment and it seems that it has helped out so I wanted to make an official post for those who may not know.
